Kor\u00e7a, the city of Seranades!<\/h3><\/div>

Kor\u00e7a is one of the largest and most important cultural and economic centers of Albania, located in the southeastern part of the country.<\/h3>\n

The city is known for its typical quarters, composed of low houses and villas, which are paved with cobblestone. The city of Kor\u00e7a has a range of museums such as the\u00a0Education Museum\u00a0(located in the building where the first Albanian school opened in 1887), the renewed\u00a0National Museum of Medieval Art\u00a0(to visit absolutely), the\u00a0Prehistoric Museum,\u00a0the House-Museum of the famous landscape painter, Vangjush Mio, the\u00a0Museum of the Oriental Art \u201cBratko\u201d,\u00a0Gjon Mili Photography Museum\u00a0etc. In the vicinity of the city is the\u00a0cemetery of French soldiers\u00a0fallen during the First World War.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Theatre Cajupi\u00a0is also a place to see concerts or theatre performances depending by the season .<\/p>\n

Apart from the museums and monuments, Kor\u00e7a is the city where\u00a0the largest carnival in Albania\u00a0is organized, taking place before Orthodox Easter. Musically, the city is known for the local songs, called\u00a0serenata<\/em>. In the city you will find many taverns with tasteful traditional cooking such as various types of pie which perfectly combines with the good music and the traditional drink, raki.<\/p>\n

Kor\u00e7a is a very good base for exploring many tourist points located in the nearby mountains such as\u00a0Voskopoja, Dardha, Vithkuqi and Boboshtica. These villages are well known for offering the possibility to practice many outdoor sports and activities. The area is also famous for the\u00a0Byzantine churches of Vithkuqi and Voskpoja, whose walls were painted by famous medieval Albanian painters. Close to Kor\u00e7a you can visit\u00a0Prespa Lake (which is the country\u2019s largest National Park), Drenova National Park, the Illyrian tummulus of Kamenica,\u00a0etc.<\/p><\/div><\/div>
